Leeds City at night

by Vicky Matthers

I was recently asked by a client to capture some of the landmark buildings/areas in Leeds.... at night!  This was a fantastic project and one that is still ongoing, weather permitting of course!  Luckily we have had a pretty mild winter so far which has made being able to get out and about easier.

I thought that the Civic Hall would be a good place to start, built in the 1930's it is an iconic building in Leeds.  Not easy to get a good view of the building though without traffic signs and cars but the shot below is pretty atmospheric, Leeds at about 5pm midweek, starting to get busy!

The images below are from other areas in the city, the shots show Bridgewater Place in the business district, the view of the canal and narrow boats near the Armouries and the Royal Armouries itself:

Leeds does have some fantastic architecture, my favourite image though is below, a picture of one of the many bridges in Leeds which shows the canal looking a lot nicer than it does in the day...trust me!
